Canyon Prince Wild Rye
leymus condensatus 'Canyon Prince'
Canyon Prince Wild Rye is a wonderful medium sized dusty-blue grass that blooms a golden 'wheat-like' flower spike in the Summer. Spreads by underground rhizomes so it will naturalize somewhat. Pull out new rhizomes if spreading to certain areas is not desired. It will grow to about 4 feet tall and wide. Drought tolerant once established. Plant Leymus Canyon Prince in full sun to part shade but the foliage color will look the best given full sun condition. Makes quite an eye-catching accent plant especiall when planted with contrasting plants such as Aeoniums, Agaves, and other broad-leaf succulents. Hardy to about 10 deg. F. Drought and seacoast tolerant. One of our favorites!
