Sphaeralcea ambigua is an attractive upright small perennial with prolific orange blooms. It will reach up to about 3 feet tall by about 5 feet wide with a open mounded shape. Desert Mallow can be used for flower arrangement with it's bright orange flowers and unique fuzzy foliage. This little plant is very drought tolerant and will attract birds and butterflies to the garden. Sphaeralcea ambigua can also tolerate some clay soils. Desert Mallow is hardy to about 20 deg. F. USDA Zones 4-10. Native to California and Baja and other Southwestern states under 8,000 feet elevations.
