An evergreen low and compact ground cover, the Emerald Carpet Manzanita is an attractive cultivar with reddish stems with small light-green leaves. Flowering occurs in Winter and Spring but is not prolific. Arctostaphylos 'Emerald Carpet' is both drought and deer tolerant. Well drained soil is an absolute must for most Manzanitas. Plant in full sun and allow for this shrub to get 4 to 5 feet wide. True California native. Hardy to about 20 deg. F.
