- Cercidium floridum, commonly known as Blue Palo Verde, is a desert native tree that brings a light, airy presence into the landscape. It’s especially well adapted to hot, dry conditions and is a natural fit for low water designs.
- One of its most distinctive features is the blue green bark, which actually carries out photosynthesis. Even when the tree drops its leaves during dry periods, it still maintains color and visual interest through the branches.
- The foliage is made up of tiny leaflets that create a very fine, filtered canopy. It allows light to pass through, which gives it a soft, open feel rather than casting dense shade.
- In spring, the tree is covered in bright yellow flowers that can create a striking display. When in bloom, it adds a strong seasonal moment that stands out against the muted tones of the bark and foliage.
