Graptoveria ‘Opalina’ is one of those succulents that looks almost too perfect to be real. With its plump, pastel colored leaves arranged in a tight rosette, it has a soft, glowing quality that stands out in any planting.

The foliage ranges from pale blue green to a slightly pinkish hue, especially along the edges when exposed to more sun or cooler temperatures. That subtle color shift gives it a gentle, almost watercolor look that pairs beautifully with both bold and muted plants.

It stays relatively compact, but over time can produce offsets, slowly forming a small cluster. This makes it a great choice for containers, succulent arrangements, or tucked into rock gardens where the rosette shape can really be appreciated.

In spring, mature plants may send up slender flower stalks with small, star shaped blooms in shades of yellow or peach. The flowers add a light, airy element and can attract pollinators.

It grows best in full sun to partial shade and prefers well drained soil. In hotter inland areas, a bit of afternoon shade can help prevent leaf burn. Watering should be moderate—allow the soil to dry between waterings to keep the plant healthy.

Graptoveria ‘Opalina’ typically forms rosettes about 6 to 8 inches wide and stays under a foot tall, spreading gradually as it offsets. It is well suited for USDA zones 9 through 11 and is sensitive to frost, tolerating temperatures down to around 25 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit. The foliage is evergreen. 

This plant has low toxicity and is generally a safe choice for gardens with pets and children.

When in bloom, the flowers can attract pollinators such as bees.

It is generally deer and rabbit resistant, though occasional nibbling may occur.
