It is generally deer resistant, though occasional browsing may occur.

Magnolia x soulangeana fits especially well into cottage, traditional, and specimen-focused garden designs, where its bloom can be used as a focal point.

It pairs well with plants like Hydrangea macrophylla to add layered seasonal blooms, Camellia japonica to extend flowering interest, and Black Mondo to create a dark, contrasting ground layer beneath the canopy.
