Striking in both color and texture, this clumping herbaceous perennial adds a wonderful element to the drought tolerant shade garden.  Large bold leaves have a faded maroon color, and in Spring/ Summer, this plants shoots up a dainty white flower.  The little surprise is the underside of the leafe.  This is a brilliant deep burgundy.  Plant in masses along borders and foreground.  Contrasts well with Juncus and Helichrysum.  Crimson Curls will stay evergreen in Southern California but can also withstand cooler climates and still be considered a perennial.  May die back in hot temperatures.  Is fairly short-lived.  Native to North America, hardy to 5 deg. F.
