- Sempervivum ‘Spring Beauty’, commonly known as Hens and Chicks, is a compact, low growing succulent that’s all about symmetry and detail. It forms tight rosettes that cluster together over time, creating a layered, almost patterned look.
- The foliage has soft green tones with hints of pink or reddish tips, especially when exposed to more sun or cooler temperatures. Each rosette is neatly formed, giving the plant a clean, geometric feel that stands out in smaller scale plantings.
- As it grows, it produces offsets or “chicks” around the main rosette, gradually forming a dense colony. This spreading habit makes it a great choice for filling in small spaces while still keeping a very controlled look.
- In summer, mature rosettes may send up flower stalks with small star shaped blooms. After flowering, that individual rosette will fade, but the surrounding offsets continue to grow and fill in.
