Vinca major is a beautiful flowering ground cover that is often used for soil retention on slopes in partially shaded areas. Some common names it goes by are Greater Periwinkle, Large Periwinkle, and Blue Buttons. It will get to about 1 foot tall by 2 feet wide, and when planted by plugs in proximity of 8" to 18" on center, it will blanket the ground nicely. Vina major prefers rich moist soils with medium to regular water. The foliage is evergreen and will flower in Spring. Vinca can take heavy shade and is deer tolerant. USDA zones 7-9. Native to Northeast Asia.
