- Solanum jasminoides, commonly known as Potato Vine, is a fast growing, evergreen vine known for its delicate white flowers and soft, airy appearance. The star shaped blooms feature bright yellow centers and are produced in loose clusters, creating a light, almost cloud like effect against the green foliage.
- Flowering typically begins in spring and can continue through summer and into fall in warm climates, providing a long season of color. The blooms attract pollinators such as bees and add a lively, natural feel to the garden.
- This vine has a vigorous, twining growth habit and works well on trellises, fences, pergolas, or along walls. It can also be used as a loose screen or allowed to spill over edges for a softer look. Its fast growth makes it a great option for quickly covering vertical spaces.
- Solanum jasminoides performs best in full sun to partial shade and prefers well drained soil. It benefits from regular watering during establishment, but once mature, it is moderately drought tolerant. Occasional pruning will help control its size and encourage fuller growth.
- It can grow 15 to 25 feet long depending on support and conditions. It is well suited for USDA zones 9 through 11 and is hardy down to around 25 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit. The foliage is evergreen in mild climates. This plant does great here in Southern California landscapes.

It grows quickly, so giving it a trim every so often keeps it looking clean and prevents it from getting too tangled or woody.
