In areas adjacent to woodlands where deer may be prevalent, selecting the right plants that have deer resistant qualities is absolutely crucial!  Deer will generally gravitate towards woody shrubs that produce tender foliage.  It can never be 100% guaranteed that deer will not eat any given plant, but there are definitely a number of plants that deer tend to leave alone.  Some of the more popular deer resistant plants include Ceanothus, Cercis, many ornamental grasses, Salvia clevelandii, and Myrtus if you are looking for a deer resistant hedge.  They also tend to steer clear of pungent herbs like Rosemary and Thyme.  If you need help making the right selections for your landscape project, please contact us!
